MAYA 2012: Lords of Time at Penn Museum: Saturday & Sunday, May 5 & 6, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
The President of the Republic of Honduras joins Penn Museum Director Richard Hodges to cut the ribbon and open the exhibition to the public at the Opening Weekend Celebration. The event, co-sponsored by the Mexican Cultural Center, features Maya and Central American music, dance, weaving and craft demonstrations, and family craft activities in the Museum. Fitler Square Spring Fair: Friday & Saturday, May 11 & 12, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Each year on the Friday and Saturday preceding Mother's Day, the FSIA hosts The Annual Spring Fair. Surrounding the fountain, tables are arranged for a silent auction of goods and services from local restaurants and shops. Under the trees, booths are set up with flowers, herbs, baked goods, gently used books, children's clothing and games, a white elephant booth and Fitler Square memorabilia, which are all available for sale.
Sister Cities Park Opening Celebration: Saturday, May 12, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join the Center City District as they kick off the summer with the grand opening celebration of Sister Cities Park. The day will be filled with family friendly activities and entertainment with the opportunity to explore our new Children’s Discovery Garden and other park amenities. Part of Love Your Park Week. The 9th Annual Art Star Craft Bazaar: Saturday & Sunday, May 12 & 13, 11 – 6 pm (rain or shine)Crafters & artists from across the country will be selling handmade goods & artist products in a variety of materials. Art in the Open: May 18 - 20, 2012
Art in the Open is a citywide event that celebrates artists, their inspirations for creating art, and their relationships with the urban environment. For three days, a juried selection of artists will work outside along the Schuylkill Banks - from the historic Fairmount Water Works to Bartram's Garden - to inspire new ways of seeing the river and the city it runs through.
