What is the Greenfield Home & School Association?

We are parents and guardians of Greenfield students who wish to participate in our children’s education in a meaningful way.We aim to promote the partnership between home, school and community and work together to bring our great city’s resources to our school to enhance our children’s education.We welcome any parent or guardian to work with us to help us make Greenfield the best it can be!

Plans for the Future:

Greenfield’s Home and School Association would like to invite everyone in the Greenfield community to join us for brainstorming new ideas for parental involvement in Home & School.We recognize that parents can be the school’s partners in making Greenfield a great place for our children to grow academically and socially.We invite you to share your thoughts and bring your initiative to our school (e.g. take our H & S survey on our website: www.greenfieldhsa.org)

Academic & Cultural Enrichment:
• Music (Dolce Suono, the Curtis School of Music, Musicopia & the Mann Music Center)
• Dance Week (Philadanco, Ballet X, Koresh and Philadelphia Dance Academy)
• Science (Dome Theater Planetarium;
First grade: Quiver Farms Egg Hatching,
Kindergarten: Insect Lore Butterflies)
• Art (Moore College Afterschool Program: Secret Garden Murals),
• English (The Whimsical Sage, Phila Shakespeare Festival: Macbeth)
• Social (The Power of One: Anti-bully program

New basketball hoop:
Purchase and installation of new hoop, court painted by the outdoor beautification volunteers.
Parents in the Playground Program:
Coordinates parent and guardian volunteers to assist in the lunchroom and during recess, purchased new play toys and equipment for students to enjoy during recess.
Outreach:
Orientation, tours for prospective, new parents.
Fun Community-Building Events for
Greenfield families:
Book fair, Movie Night, Bingo Night, Spring Fair.
Silent Auction and Social:
To benefit Greening Greenfield we raised $10,000 on a fun night out for Greenfield parents.
New H&S Website:
Our new and improved website updates on events and provides other resources for Greenfield
parents (e.g. providing school supply lists, contact information etc).

Large Scale Accomplishments:

Over the years, the Greenfield H&S Association has successfully raised funds to complete a number of projects.
• 1998:
The PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT on the east side of the play yard and in the Kindergarten yard was purchased.
• 2002-2003:

Renovation of the SCHOOL LIBRARY (purchase of new furniture, bookshelves etc).
• 2005:
Renovation of the CAFETERIA (purchase of new floors and renovations)
• 2008:
Addition of a CLIMBER to the schoolyard’s playground equipment.
• 2008-2009:
Purchase and installation of NEW BASKETBALL HOOP.
• 2009-2010:
The GREENING OF GREENFIELD (a five-phase initiative that will transform the school’s building and grounds, from impermeable urban heat
island to an environmentally friendly building with self-sustaining green space).
• 2010-2011: Renovation of the AUDITORIUM?
